Fuerteventura new homes at €76,000 next to Caribbean-style beaches and golf

Fuerteventura’s climate and Caribbean-style beaches are the best in the Canaries. Resorts typically combine well-equipped family beaches with easy access to large and amazingly undeveloped stretches of soft pale sand reminiscent of the Caribbean.Beaches slope very gently into the sea and the water is wonderfully calm – with some windy, wavy areas for windsurfing and boarding. Great conditions for children and a superb place to try windsurfing or have a go at snorkelling or scuba diving in the clear, blue waters.

A recent survey showed 93% of holidaymakers go for the sunny all year climate and 62% loved Fuerteventura’s beaches and confirmed they were the main attraction in the first place and the reason they keep on coming back. Caleta de Fuste beaches have imported sand from the Sahara Desert, 70 miles away, but remain very impressive. The beach scene feels more like a conventional Spanish resort than the wilder and quieter Fuerteventura beaches of the south. But you will still find plenty of wide open spaces a short walk from the sun loungers and umbrellas. The main resort centre beach is a well-maintained curve of golden sand with sunbeds, beach umbrellas, showers, toilets, changing rooms and beach bars. A calm family atmosphere prevails even in peak summer. The beach is conveniently close to bars, restaurants, shops and low-rise hotels and apartments. A very safe beach for children.

Kids will also enjoy the sandy lagoons to the south of the main Caleta beach, which tends to be more active in terms of swimming and windsurfing. The over-water bar and restaurant is a popular venue. Watersports classes available from a choice of schools, particularly in the harbour area. Family excursions could include glass-bottomed boat trips, submarine voyages and the local marine centre with dolphins.

This resort – also known as  El Castillo and Costa Caleta – was chosen by one of Spain’s biggest developers as the location for a comprehensive holiday homes development on the sloping hill behind the main beach. The carefully laid plans were approved by local planners who were happy to see the one-time fishing village expand naturally outwards and upwards, affording great sea views for the international buyers who were expected to snap up the spacious pueblo-style homes.

However, the international recession scuppered the developer’s plans. As development funding was cut off and potential buyers vanished the firm was forced to stop work and close down the site – just as the final finishing touches were being applied to 100s of homes and impressive streetscapes. The whole development was mothballed for years as the funding bank sorted out the legal paperwork.

Now, just as Spain and other European countries are emerging from their recessional woes, the bank that took control has decided to release the houses at Caleta de Fuste for sale at extraordinary discounts from the original developer prices.

There is nowhere in Europe where spacious 3-bed town houses – each has its own front door on the street – are available for €76,000 to €80,000 each. The bright and sunny homes, full of quality finishes and fittings, were designed to sell at €200,000.

The bank wants to recover its developer loans and has instructed its international brokers, Walker Property Spain to sell the lot as quickly as possible. There are mortgages available and a special deal requiring €100,000 cash with a top-up mortgage to acquire two houses with a 3-bed, 3-bath 148 square metres iof living space.

These brand new, key ready townhouses are in the urbanization Castillo Caleta de Fuste, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, close to a shopping centre and two golf courses. There are three different sectors, each offering the same high quality build, and the Fly to Buy service provides viewings to allow buyers to select favoured orientations, views and internal layouts.

The winning combination of all year round sunshine, beaches and golf is good for family holidays or renting to affinity groups of golfers, surfers, windsurfers, friends and social.
